During the meeting, M.Dzharbusynova familiarized members of the Committee with the directions of the OSCE Projects that are being implemented in Ukraine and pertain to economic, military and political spheres, to the sector of environmental protection regarding democratization of governance; establishing the rule of law and support of human rights; combating human trafficking and cybercrimes; and promotion of gender equality.  

The Committee Chair Valeriy Patskan noted that the issues of observance of rights and freedoms of men and citizens; the activity of Human Rights Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine; citizenship and status of foreigners and stateless; ethnic policy, international relations and rights of indigenous peoples and national minorities of Ukraine; migration, refugees and asylum in Ukraine; legislative support to equality between rights of men and women; as well as establishing relations with Ukrainians abroad are top priority issues for the Committee.    

According to him, the Committee cooperates with the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, the International Organization for Migration, the UN Commission on Human Rights, and the European Council, etc.  

The Parties have discussed possible ways of cooperation in regard to “strengthening the rule of law, preventing torture and other forms of ill-treatment, counteracting human trafficking, promoting gender equality and refining legal education and human rights education”. The Committee members showed their willingness to actively cooperate with the OSCE Mission in Ukraine and participate in projects that relate to the activity of the Committee, and to implement the OSCE experience in regard to the part of human rights protection.  

People’s deputies of Ukraine Andriy Shevchenko, Iryna Lutsenko, Vasyl Samoilenko, Bohdan Beniuk, as well as the OSCE Project Coordinators in Ukraine Nataliya Stupnytska and Tetiana Rudenko participated in the meeting.
